Instead of asking ourselves, “How can I find security and happiness?” we could ask ourselves, “Can I touch the center of my pain? Can I sit with suffering, both yours and mine, without trying to make it go away? Can I stay present to the ache of loss or disgrace—disappointment in all its many forms—and let it open me?” This is the trick.
~Pema Chodron
Of course it's Pema Chödrön. Pema Chödrön, no one else. No matter if it's a rough day or a sweet one, her words gently push me to keep my feet moving, to not stagnate or get comfortable. Because life is change. Nothing that lives stays the same. To embrace the pitch and yaw of life is beautifully liberating. We may be spinning ourselves dizzy sometimes, but we're not lost, oblivious We actually don't have much choice about it if we want to live as fully and freely as we possibly can.
